Alma Mcewen

          Alma Retta (Whaley) Kennedy McEwen, 70, of Potosi, formerly Park Hills, passed away September 13, 2021 at Georgian Gardens Nursing Facility in Potosi.  She was born April 10, 1951 to the late Thomas Glenwood and Freda Helen (Crader) Whaley.  She worked for Parkland Hospital and the Well Life Center, before retiring after 34 years.  In her spare time, Alma enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, listening to music and dancing.   Alma and her husband were members of the Desloge VFW #2426 and they started their own organization called “Modern Day Veterans.”  Alma and Larry were big supporters of our veterans.

          She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Tom Whaley.

Alma is survived by her loving husband, Larry McEwen; three daughters, Shelly Kennedy, Glenda Bell and husband Keith, Christina Remshardt and husband Tony; sisters, Bea Gough and Vivian Johnson; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends, also survive.

          Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  Visitation will resume, Friday, September 17, 2021 at the C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel in Desloge at 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM.  Tom Tedder will be officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre.  Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
