Barbara Lee ASTIN

January 2, 1937 ~ September 6, 2006

Mrs. Barbara Lee 'Miller' Astin passed away at her Farmington residence Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at the age of 69 years, 8 months & 4 days. Barbara was born in Metropolis, Il., on Jan. 2, 1937, & was the daughter of the late Lavier & Leatha 'Farris' Miller. Also preceding: 2 Sisters: Cheryl Cantrell & Linda Miller; a Nephew, Marcus Miller.

Barbara was a member of the Bay Area Baptist Church of League City, Texas, and also attended Farmington First Baptist Church. She was a retired Medical Records Technician, working for the State Prison system of Texas and the Missouri Mental Health Hospital of Farmington.

Survivors Include: her husband, Donald E. "Eddie" Astin, of Farmington; 1 Son & Daughter-In-Law: Kim & Terri Astin, of La Marque, TX; 3 Sisters: Alice Pease, of Marion, IL; Donna Kay (& Charles) Harrison, of Harrisburg, IL; Marilyn Roberts, of Harrisburg, IL; 2 Brothers: Calvin (& Diane) Miller, of Valdosta, GA; Steve (& Susie) Miller, of Harrisburg, IL; 1 Granddaughter and husband, Erin (& Joe) Gaw, of Texas City, TX; 2 Great-Grandchildren: Trey & Malinda Gaw, of Texas City, TX; Also surviving are: several Nieces; Nephews; Cousins; a Special Aunt: Clara Cavatt, of Anna, IL & Special Friends: Anna Hall; Barbara Hyler & Perry Bramhall, all of Farmington.

Barbara's life was characterized by her love for God, her family and friends, a life-long sense of adventure and a generous, giving spirit. Her life has been full of laughter, beauty and grace, music and a zest for living.

Visitation: Thursday, 6-8 pm @ TAYLOR Funeral Service, Inc., Farmington.

Interment: Cypress Masonic Cemetery in Cypress, IL

  4. Mr. AStin, I am so sorry to hear of Barbs passing, when I would see you and her on the porch I saw a loving couple, one who cherrished every moment they had together. Your wife was a delight and even though I had only spoken to her a few times I thought she was a very sweet woman. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Your neighbor in L12 .
