David Lee COLSON

March 10, 1930 ~ October 27, 2011

Mr. David Lee Colson passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, in Farmington, at the age of 81 years, 7 months & 17 days. David was born March 10, 1930, in Desloge and was the son of Emerson Chauncey Colson and Faustine Della 'Meadows' Colson. Also preceding was a sister, June David.

David was a member of the 24th Judicial Circuit Bar Association; the Missouri Bar Association; the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. David served as St. Francois Co. Prosecuting Attorney (1957-1958). David was previously City Attorney for both the cities of Bonne Terre and Farmington. He was a founding board member of Farmington Community Hospital, now known as Parkland Health Center. He served on the Farmington School Board. David was a member of: Rotary Club; Masonic Lodge; Elks Lodge. David was a Boy Scout, having attained the rank of Eagle Scout and later served on the Eagle Scout Board. David was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees. He served his country in the United States Navy; United States Air Force and the United States Air Force ROTC.
Survivors Include: his wife, Norma Lee 'Aslinger' Colson, of Farmington. 4 Daughters: Lee (& Frank) Gentile, of Wentzville; Susan Freund, of Farmington; Beth (& Greg) Wade, of St. Louis & Jill Colson, of Farmington. 1 Son: Craig Colson, of Oklahoma City, OK. 10 Grandchildren: Anne & Rachel Colson; Dominic & Lang Gentile; Matthew, Alex & Luke Freund; Marcus, Andrea & Alison Wade. 2 Nephews: Steve (& Joyce) David; Mike (& Ann) David. Also, his devoted Secretary & Friend, Rita Stam.
Visitation Starts : Monday @ 1:00 p.m.
Memorial Service : Monday, 2:00 p.m., Oct. 31, 2011
at : TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, with Dr. Rick Broadway officiating.
At Dave's Request, His Body Was Donated To St. Louis University School of Medicine.

I clearly remember him laughing with amusement many years ago as the cat chased Inky around the circle from living, to dining, to kitchen and back to the living room.   4. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a very special man.I have known him most all my life. Your mother was my favorite teacher. When i had a problem i could always turn to your Dad for his wisdom,he was always there looking over his glasses and a big smile.I will miss him, but our loss is heaven's Gain.   13. For a number of years he was my landlord of my business office. The perfect landlord and honorable man. Sorry to hear of his passing.

  14. Sympathy to the family of Mr. Colson, I did not know him on a personal level although I had met him. My deceased husband,Tom, dealt with him on a business level and always had great respect for him. God Bless each of you,today,and in the weeks to come.

    Dave and I had many great times together and was probably my best friend in High School.
