Mrs. Dorothy O. Chapman passed away Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Southbrook Skilled Care Nursing Center, Farmington, at the age of 85 years, 10 months & 21 days. Dorothy was born August 3, 1918, in Eastman, Georgia to Alice 'Miller' Hardin & Silas Hamilton Hardin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Drexel Chapman (July 31, 2003). Dorothy graduated from Eastman High School in 1935 & attended Georgia State College for Women. She worked for 5 years as Assistant Bookeeper for her father's business, Eastman Grocery & Lumber Co. In 1942, she began work at the Naval Ordinance Plant in Macon, Ga., where she met & later married Drexel Chapman on July 12, 1945. Following Drexel's 1946 military discharge they lived in Kennett, MO., for 3 years. In 1949, they moved to Farmington, where they owned & operated their own heating & plumbing business for over 30 years. Dorothy was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Farmington - where she was very active in many of the women's organizations. Survivors Include: 2 SONS - Kenneth Chapman, of Fredericktown & Stephen Chapman of Farmington. her Step-Mother, Gertrude 'Horne' Hardin, of Eastman, Ga; 1 SISTER: Betty Hardin Harrington, of Eastman, GA. 1 BROTHER: Silas Hardin of Eastman, GA. Also surviving are several Nieces; Nephews; other family & friends. Visitation Friday, 6-8 pm & Chapel Funeral, Saturday, June 26, 2004, 1:00 p.m., at TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, with interment following in Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be made to: *Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington.
