Dr. Alfred Wesley DOUGHTY

Dr. Alfred Wesley Doughty, DVM, 81, of Pinckneyville, IL., died March 23, 2005, at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Doc was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Farmington, MO., to Walter Wood Doughty & Minnie Melinda 'Burch' Doughty. Also preceding-in-death were: 2 Sisters: Nell Rednour & Glenda Miller; 1 Brother: Glenwood Doughty. Doc married Margaret "Peg" Doughty on Sept. 8, 1949, in Council Bluffs, IA, & she survives. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII; He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture & a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The University of Missouri, Columbia. He was a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine for over 25 years & Past-President of Southern Illinois Veterinary Medical Assoc. He was a former PCHS schoolboard member; built Oxbow & Westridge Subdivisions in Pinckneyville, a member of U.M.W.A, & most recently owned & operated Oxbow Bed & Breakfast in Pinckneyville. He was also the track Veterinarian for The DuQuoin State Fair for 17 years; Past-President of the Southern Illinois Bed & Breakfast Assoc, a Civil War enthusiast, a published author & restored old barns.

Survivors include: his WIFE: Margaret "Peg" of Pinckneyville; 1 DAUGHTER: Susan (& Wilbur) Engelhardt of Pinckneyville; 2 SONS: Michael (& Norma) Doughty, of Dallas, TX; Sean Patrick (& Christine) Campbell, of Nashville, TN; 2 BROTHERS: Donald Doughty, of Farmington, MO; & Melbourne (& Irene) Doughty, of Bonne Terre, MO; 2 GRANDCHILDREN: Amanda Frassato, of Las Vegas, NV & Sarah Frassato, of Chicago, IL. Also, numerous Nieces & Nephews.

Visitation resumes Saturday morning, 9 am - 11:30 am @ TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, Farmington. Graveside services will be: Saturday, 12 Noon, March 26, 2005, @ the Doughty Family Cemetery, Farmington, with Rev. Rocky Good officiating.
