Harold R. Cunningham



Harold R. Cunningham, age 90, of Desloge, passed away July 17, 2011 at the St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre, MO. He was born November 13, 1920 in Bonne Terre, the son of the late Kennett W. and Mary Belle Cash Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Lucille (House) in July 2005, and by one brother Lydle Cunningham & a sister Euphemia Owens.



Harold is survived by son, Wayne Cunningham and wife Karen of St. Louis; daughter Regina Cunningham of Texas; grandchildren Miki Cunningham, Rebecca Bradshaw, Rhyne Acuff, and Corynn Acuff; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother; Bernard Cunningham.



One of Mr. Cunninghams proudest accomplishments was in helping to organize the first "Little League" baseball program in St. Francois County in 1953, with Desloge being one of the six teams representing their local communities. In addition, Harold was a member of the Elvins Ionic Lodge #154 of Desloge and served in the U. S. Naval Forces. He was employed by St. Joe Minerals for 21 years and was well known as the owner of "Cunninghams Gulf Service" Station in Desloge, previously known as "Rhodes", which was purchased in 1963 and operated by him until 1978. Harold also drove a school bus for the North County and Farmington school Districts.
