Helen Berniece 'Blackwood' Schaper, of Farmington, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at her Camelot Nursing Center residence, in Farmington, at the age of 84 years, 5 months & 13 days. Helen was born in Claremore, Oklahoma, on December 27, 1924, & was the daughter of Walter Blackwood and Edna L. 'Wix' Blackwood Keller. Also preceding-in-death was her StepDad, Peter W. Keller, her Husband, Henry Paul Schaper, Sr., (May 7, 1983); 1 Sister, Mildred Payne; 1 StepSister: Edna Lofton & 1 Grandson, David Payne.
Helen was: * a longtime, faithful member of Farmington Christian Church; * a member of The Red Hat Society; * a member of TOPS. She & Henry were united in marriage on Feb. 2, 1953, in Key West, FL. Henry preceded-in-death in 1983.
Survivors Include : 1 Daughter, Laura G. 'Mrs. Kelly' Reynolds, of Patton, MO; 1 Son, Henry P. (& Ann) Schaper, of Farmington; 3 Grandchildren: Sarah (& Mike) Pulliam; Chrissy (& Andy) Baldwin; Cindy Boatright (& Jerry Gowen, Jr.) - all of Farmington. 4 Great-Grandchildren: Emily & Alaina Pulliam; Trevor & Mason Gowen. Also surviving are numerous Nieces & Nephews.
Visitation : Friday, 5-9 p.m. Visitation resumes Saturday, 6:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. @ TAYLOR CHAPEL. Visitation moves to Farmington Christian Church, starting Saturday @ 11:00 a.m.
Funeral : Saturday, 1:00 p.m., June 13, 2009, at Farmington Christian Church, with Rev. Dale Berck officiating.
Interment : Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Farmington.

For a season of my life I had the pleasure to have Helen as one of my customers. She was a very special lady and I will miss her very much. I'm so thankful that I had the chance to visit her while she was in the hospital. To all of Helen's family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. It was a joy to serve Helen.
