Mr. Herman B. Schaefer passed away Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, Farmington, at the age of 84 years, 11 months & 22 days of age. Herman was born Jan. 25, 1923, in St. Francois County and was the son of William Adam Schaefer and Doretta Elizabeth 'Revoir' Schaefer. Also preceding were: 1 Grandson, Greg Schaefer & 1 Half-Sister, Marie L. Schaefer, @ age 11.
Herman was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Farmington. Herman was a US Army Veteran of World War II, & served in the 3rd Infantry. He was also a former active member of the 3rd Infantry Society.
Survivors Include : his wife, Louise Marie 'Callahan' Schaefer, of Farmington; 1 daughter, Joyce 'Mrs. Bobby' Green, of Littleton, NH; 1 Son, Bill Schaefer, of St. Louis. 1 Sister, Naomi Skinner, of Farmington. 7 Grandchildren: Adam Schaefer, Alan Johnson, Jennifer Nicole Powers, Alex Green, Kristin Sinnott, Christopher Schaefer & Matthew Schaefer. 2 Great-Grandchildren: Hayley Johnson & Aliyah Schaefer.
Visitation : Sunday, 4-7 p.m. Visitation resumes Monday at 7:00 a.m.
Funeral : Monday, 10:00 a.m., Jan. 21, 2008,
at : St. Paul Lutheran Church of Farmington, with Pastor David Oddi officiating, assisted by Pastor James King.
Interment with full military honors will follow at Lutheran Cemetery, Farmington.
Memorials to: * St. Paul Lutheran Church &/or * The American Cancer Society.
I am sorry for your loss, Herman and his family were neighbors , across the street when I was growing up in Farmington.

Sorry to hear about Herman. He used to watch us play ball by the armory when we were kids.

I will never forget Herman and the many years we worked together at Farmington State Hospital. He was a kind and gentle person; always giving of himself to help our patients and his fellow workers. My sympathies go out to his family in this time of grief
