Jim Hill

Jim Hill, 69, of Desloge, passed away January 24, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  Born January 31, 1951 in Bonne Terre to the late James William Hill, Sr. and Jesse Hazel Rawlins, Jim spent his life serving his country in the United States Navy.  Retiring as a Senior Chief, Jim’s last duty station was at the Joint Chiefs of Staff where he served as a speech writer under General Colin Powell during his time as the Director of the Joint Staff.  Jim loved golf, Cardinal baseball, Mizzou football, and listening to music, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.  A member of Leadbelt Golf Course, he was an avid, lifelong golfer with the greatest short game outside of the Senior PGA Tour.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Brenda. K. Stanfill.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda (Conway) Hill; children, Lisa Lucas-Dean, her fiancé Jon Barlow, Dr. Mark Hill, and his wife Dr. Kathaleen Amende; grandchildren, Dillon James Lucas, Hannah Elizabeth Lucas, and Kaylee Ann Lucas; great-granddaughter Harper Marie Lucas; his sister Anna “Mickey” Brawley; life-long friends, Arthur and Shirley Laird and their children, Heather Laird, Joshua Laird and wife Lindsey, and Jim’s goddaughter, Jaclyn Christine (Laird) Bryan; and many favorite cousins, nieces, nephews, and golf buddies.
