John Allen Smith, 61, of Bonne Terre passed away January 9, 2011 at John Cochran VA Medical Center. He was born May 5, 1949 in Decorah, Iowa. John was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and served almost ten years in the U.S. Army. He loved sports and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur E. Smith. John is survived by his wife, Shirley (Hood) Smith; children, Christina (Mrs. Jeffrey) Nail of DeSoto, Mara (Johnny) Smith of Bonne Terre, Jamie (Mrs. Dennis) Pyeatt of Bonne Terre; eight grandchildre, one great-grandchild; mother, Ruth (Gallagher) Smith; two brothers, David (Ann) Smith, Gary (Pam) Smith; sister, Barbara Chanson; sister-in-law, Betty Warden.
