Marcela "Mila" Peterson

Marcella “Mila” (Sulapas) Peterson, age 80, of Lake Timberline, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Saturday, August 14, 1943 in Surigao Del Norte, Philipines to the late Restituto and Lucrecia (Constantino) Sulapas. Mila was of Catholic faith. She was very involved in the community, loved socializing, doing fundraisers, and was past president of the eagle lodge. Mila could speak five different languages. She enjoyed traveling the world and living in other countries, fishing and cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth E. Peterson; and stepson, Terry Peterson.

Mila is survived by her very dear friend, Larry Richardson and family; children, Jill Peterson of Phoenix, AZ, and Janet (Mike) Turner of Dunlap, TN; two grandchildren, Caine (Teresa) Peterson and Courtney (Joshua) Wilson; along with six great-grandchildren. Mila will be dearly missed in the community by all that knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre on Friday, November 3,2023, from 9:00 AM until service time of 10:30 AM. Joshua Wilson will be officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Bonne Terre. A celebration of life will be held at the Paddle House in Lake Timberline at 1:00 PM, for all that would like to join in honoring Mila.
