Marge Jauch

Margaret Lou Sandage Jauch slipped peacefully from this life on Monday, September 6, 2021 at the age of 90 years and 9 days.  She was born on August 28, 1931 in Steele, MO, the daughter of Ervin William and Myrtle Ann Gower Sandage, both of whom preceded her in death.

Growing up on a farm in Wardell, MO with seven brothers and sisters instilled in Marge a steadfast love for and a devotion to family that became the foundation upon which she built her life, passing these values to her daughter and grandchildren.  Upon graduation from high school, Marge moved to St. Louis, where she worked briefly as a bookkeeper.  Though her time in St. Louis was short, her year spent there was a time in her life that she fondly remembered and spoke of often.  In 1952, Marge returned to her hometown of Wardell, where she worked as a bookkeeper at Citizen Gin until 1962, when she married the love of her life, Darrell L Jauch.  Though she was certain of her feelings for Darrell, she reluctantly accepted his marriage proposal, as she was fairly certain that she did not wish to be a pastor’s wife.  Despite her hesitance, she grew to love her role, and to all who knew her, it was obviously a role that God had created her to fill.  Together she and Darrell faithfully served together for nearly 54 years at pastorates in the First Baptist Churches of Wardell, Irondale, East Prairie, and Bonne Terre, and ultimately, at Mineral Area Baptist Association.  In 1977, Marge began working at Roderick’s Florist and later Greene’s Florist, finding another niche for which she was a perfect fit.  During the 30-plus years spent in the floral business, Marge established lifelong relationships with customers and with co-workers who became members of her family, particularly “The Mary’s”,  Mary Greene and Mary Kelly.

In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Leslie Jauch, her grandson, Chadwick Jauch Tipton, brothers Harry William Sandage and Jerry Franklin Sandage, and sisters, Mildred Eunice Sandage Manns, Minnie Mavis Sandage Pike, and Alma Gaye Sandage Dillard.  She also was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Bobby Wayne Stockton, Robert Pike, Bob Manns, and Donald Jauch, and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Jauch Followell and June Jauch Keller.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Ann Jauch Bauche (Kurt) of Farmington; granddaughter, Annie-Laurie Tipton Chambers (Andre) of St. Louis; bonus grandchildren, Kate (Matt) Fleming and Kyle (Michelle) Bauche, all of Columbia; great grandchildren, Haiden and Carmin Fleming and Scarlett Bauche; brother, Mike Sandage of Wardell; a sister Judith Ann Stockton of Brandon, MS; a sister-in-law, Myra Murphy Sandage of Caruthersville; brother-in-law, Roy Francis Dillard of Clinton, KY; and brother and sister-in-law Max and Sue Jauch of Lake St. Louis.   A host of nieces and nephews and friends also survive.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Elara Healthcare and Heart and Soul Hospice for their outstanding care and support throughout the past year.
