Michael Eugene “Mike” Brooks, 75, of Ste. Genevieve passed away July 3, 2023. He was born May 7, 1948 in St. Louis, MO to the late Alvin and Alpine (Dunlap) Brooks. Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for the State of Missouri Department of Corrections for 33 years. He was a member of Genevieve Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially loved raising his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leona Hahl, grandson, Michael Harp; brother, John Brooks; sister, Pat Starky; brothers-in-law, Harry “Sonny” Hahl and John Hahl.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Valerie (Hahl) Brooks; daughter, Tonya Hull and husband Rick; three grandchildren, Taylor Hahl, R.J. Warren, Brooke (Steve) Minks; four great-grandchildren, Michael Akers, Lucy, Ruby and Gracie Minks; brothers-in-law, Joe (Penny) Hahl and Jeff Hahl; fur babies, Smoky the cat and Dixie the Pitbull. Several nieces, nephews and other friends also survive.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 7, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington. Visitation will resume on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM at the C.Z. Boyer & Son – Taylor Chapel with Rev. Bob Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Lick Cemetery.
