'View Video Tribute'

Mrs. Rachel 'Dickson' Taylor Fieg passed away peacefully in her sleep, early Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Farmington Presbyterian Manor at the age of 87 years, 8 months & 1 day. Rachel was born Dec. 2, 1920, in Crenshaw, Mississippi, & was the daughter of Floyd Baskel Dickson and Lillie Mae 'McCharen' Dickson. Also preceding-in-death were: her 1st husband, Dr. Byron H. Taylor, Jr. (1960); and a sister, Mary 'Mrs. John' Fagan.

Rachel was a former longtime resident of Desloge. She obtained her RN as a 1945 Graduate of the Univ. of Tenn. (U-T) School of Nursing in Memphis, TN. Rachel was an Industrial Nurse for the majority of her nursing career, first for the Murray Bicycle Plant in Lawrenceburg, TN. Upon moving to Flat River, MO., Rachel became the office nurse for her husband, Dr. Byron H. Taylor, Jr. Upon the death of Dr. Taylor, Rachel returned to the Industrial Nurse vocation & served as the Industrial Nurse for the Mississippi Lime Company in Ste. Genevieve for many years. Rachel and Lothar were united in marriage May 2, 1977. Rachel has been an active member of The Presbyterian Church and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan for many years.

Survivors include : her husband, Lothar Fieg, of Ste. Genevieve (currently residing at the Farmington Presbyterian Manor). 1 Daughter, Sandra 'Mrs. Danny' Miller; 2 Sons: Byron H. (& Kay) Taylor, III; David W. (& Ann) Taylor, all of Farmington. 4 Grandchildren: Christine 'Mrs. Bill' Robbins, of San Jose, California; Rodney (& Susie) Miller, of Farmington; Travis Taylor, of Palo Alto, Calif. & Tracy 'Mrs. John' Boyd, of St.Louis. 3 Great-Granddaughters: Jesse & Abby Miller, of Farmington; Mallory Robbins, of San Jose, Calif. A sister, Mrs. Collye Walker, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Also surviving are 5 Step-Children: Richard J. & Cindy Fieg, of Ste. Genevieve; Susan (Mrs. Ed) Williams, of Chicago; Russell & Heny Fieg, of Las Vegas, NV; Steven & Eleanor Fieg, of Ste. Genevieve; Douglas & Cindy Harris Fieg, of Somis, CA.; 4 Step-Grandchildren: Laura & Brian Fieg, of Atlanta, GA; Tamra (Mrs. Thomas) Bradford, of Festus, MO; Brenna Ferguson, of Ste. Genevieve. Also surviving, many loving Cousins; Nieces & Nephews.

Visitation : Thursday, 10 am - 12 Noon @ Farmington Presbyterian Church, under direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc..

Visitation : Thursday, 4 - 8 p.m. @ Basler Funeral Home - Ste. Genevieve.

Funeral : Friday, 10:00 a.m., Aug. 8, 2008, at Ste. Genevieve First Presbyterian Church, 160 So. Main Street, with Lay Pastor Lorraine Stange officiating.

Burial will be next to Dr. Taylor in Farmington, at Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Rev. Paul Bembower officiating.

Memorials would be preferred in lieu of flowers to: * The American Cancer Society.

  6. Byron: Sorry to hear about your mother. She was a great woman and I have memories of her visiting when you and Kay would be home. As you know she is in a better place, Im sure she truely missed here.

I always remember her as a lovely woman, and she was much loved by her cousins Willa Jean and Margaret. The video tribute is wonderful, and I will check it again tonight.   9. While I didn't know "Grandma" Rachel personally, I've heard stories from Christine about her beloved grandmother. The video tribute also shows the legacy of a woman who loved life & was loved so much by her family. I pray that God will comfort each of you during the coming days as you share sorrows over your loss, but knowing that Grandma Rachel is now resting in God's love.
