Rev. Homer L. Smith passed away Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Country Meadows Nursing Home, Park Hills, at the age of 86 years, 4 months & 19 days. Homer was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Bonne Terre, to Andrew Roy Smith & Maud 'Smith' Smith. Also preceding-in-death were his 1st wife of 58 years, Dorothy Mae 'Meyers' Smith (Feb. 18, 2000); 1 Sister, Anna Mae Barbey; 2 Brothers: Howard Smith & Kenneth Smith.

Rev. Smith was saved Dec. 5, 1944, at Fredericktown Assembly of God Church & received the Holy Spirit in Aug. 1945 & began his ministry. He had the Doe Run Assembly of God Church built in 1956; He pastored the Doe Run Assembly of God Church for 45 years; He worked for St. Joe Lead Co. for 38 yrs & 5 mos., while pastoring the church & leading many people to Christ.

Survivors: his WIFE: Rhema L. 'Kennon' Mullins Smith, of Desloge; 1 DAUGHTER: Carolyn "Carri" (Mrs. Harold) Weems, of Farmington; 2 SONS: Carl L. (& Nadine) Smith, of Farmington; Charles D. "Chuck" Smith, of St. Louis. 1 SISTER: Lucille (Mrs. Clyde) Pinkston, of Bonne Terre; 1 BROTHER: Gene (& Loraine) Smith, of Farmington. 4 GRANDCHILDREN: Lisa (Mrs. Doug) Berry, of Farmington; Carletta (Mrs. K.J.) Genenbacher, of Farmington; Andrea (Mrs. Josh) Steele, of O'Fallon, MO; Erica Weems, of Dardenne Prairie, MO. 6 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Ashley, Garrett & Summer Berry; Jacob Steele; Carly & Kyle Genenbacher.

Visitation: Sunday, 4-9 pm at TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL. Visitation resumes Monday, 7:00 a.m.

Funeral: Monday, 2:00 p.m., March 27, 2006

at : Doe Run Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Jerry Cuneio officiating, assisted by Rev. John M. Kee, Rev. Fred Pritchett & Rev. Eddie Bone.

Interment: Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Farmington.

  11. My dearest Uncle Homer. Through out your life you have left behing a great legacy of serving the Lord and leading many to Christ. I only hope I can take life mistakes and learn from them and in turn leave behinda great legacy such as you did. You were such a blessing to me. You life of serving is worth is all now as you can enjoy your great rewards in heaven. May God bless and comfort those you left behind and may they too see the legacy you have shared with so many.

  12. To the family of Rev. Smith: Please accept our deepest sympathy. It is never easy to experience the loss of a loved one, especially a parent or spouse. Anyone who knew Rev. Smith regarded him highly. He was truly a man of God and will be leaving a wonderful legacy. Rest assured that heaven is rejoicing today. God bless each of you.
