Ruth Marie Reetz, of Desloge, formerly of Bonne Terre, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, at the age of 83. She was born on Sunday, June 25, 1939 to the late Edward and Dorothy (Krenz) Helmke. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Christopher Reetz. Ruth was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Park Hills and a member of the Ladies Guild. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1961 from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Ruth was very active in the nursing field. During her career, she worked in Chicago, IL, St. Louis, MO, Santa Barbara, CA and later in the Park Hills, MO area before her retirement. She also taught nursing at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO.
During her spare time, Ruth enjoyed golfing, crocheting, traveling the world and playing cards, especially bridge. She enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels in her community, but her passion was her church family. She loved playing the organ, piano and singing in the choir.
Ruth is survived by her loving son, Paul Reetz wife Leslie of Cape Girardeau, MO; one grandson, Hilton Christopher Reetz; one brother, John Helmke and wife Nancy; special niece, Catherine Hegarty; and nephew, John Helmke, Jr. Ruth will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 2:30 P.M. with Pastor Jeremy May officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. So very sorry for the loss of Mary,only met her 1 time as I had some wonderful senior pictures & wedding photos too in 1979_80 . What a very pleasant woman who will be missed greatly. RIP sweet lady
She was a wonderful lady and nursing colleague. I remember her and Christopher from when they took pictures of my daughter at the Bonneterre studio. Both were such gracious and giving people.

I’ll always remember teaching nursing with Ruth. She was a kind colleague who always had the best interest of her students in mind.
Dear Ruth, we never had the pleasure of meeting you in person, but got to know you through Lesley Anne our daughter whom you loving welcomed into your home and life when she married your son Paul. We thank you for loving Les and being there for her. Ruth you have walked your race a good and faithful Christian that loved the Lord , now safe in Jesus arms and reunited with her sole mate Chrisopher. You will be missed by all. RIP
