  11. Mrs. Deason and kids, I do not know what it is like not to have my father around. My grandfather died in World War II. I do know how my dad has longed just to see his grave in France or to hear his voice of advice. I do know that I am very proud of my grandfather (and so is my dad) for the decision he made to sacrifice his life for my freedom. May you know that as much as it hurts, and I know that it does, you can be proud that your husband/father did not die in vain, but for a worthy cause. May our God's Holy Spirit give you guidance and comfort during the days, months and years to come. I wish there were words that could make that pain go away. I would give them to you.

  180. The Ultimate Sacrifice When times like these happen, a silence follows- what can we say when someone gave us the ultimate gift, took our place in time and gave all that can be given, wrapped in fine paper, when we never asked them for it? In this silence, I'd like to interject a memory of better times, of proud moments, when daily service brought hilarious results, sometimes caused extreme boredom-made everyone hungry. Heroes forever light up our memories, longer than anyone else survives, because the tales of their deeds, the remembrance of sacrifice makes us remember them more, just like the purest gifts. We can return little to fallen heroes, often can't give back the gift-and it's not right to return it. Our thanks are in our thoughts, our memories, where their plaques of remembrance shine the brightest. In their memory, we can reach out further to fellow men, give more than we've given before, care more. And when we do something significant, then we can say, "I do this in your memory, God bless you." May God be with you and watch over you on the long road ahead.. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers.

  181. I never met Michael but I want to express my heartfelt sympathy to all his loved ones and friends!! 201. To the entire family of SSG. Michael Deason, but especially to his wife, kids, and parents, Words can't begin to express enough how sorry I am for the loss of SSG. Deason,,,there is so much I would like to say and express how I feel for your loss, but I don't know where to begin. From the time that I heard about this on the news to reading about this in the Daily Journal my thoughts and prayers have been with the Deason family,,,my heart goes out to you all. I am truly Thankful to SSG. Deason and all the soldiers fighting for this country and Iraq that have risked/given the ultimate sacrifice. We as Americans/citizens know what the soldiers have sacrificed,,,I just hope all the Iraqi citizens know and are thankful to. God Bless the entire Deason family and all of the soldiers fighting in Iraq. With Sincere Condolences, Becky

  202. To the family and friends of SSG Michael Deason. I am so sorry for your loss. I would like to give thanks to SSG Deason and his fellow service men and women who continue to make this country safe

  203. To the family of SSG Deason, words cannot express the depth of sorrow I feel for you all. I am so very sorry that you've had to say goodbye to someone you love so much, and had to do it way too soon in his life. I am so grateful for the brave men and women who put themselves in danger in order to protect this great nation and her people. SSG Deason is a Hero. I know that this will not take away the pain you are feeling, but please remember that the entire community is behind you. God Bless you all.

  204. I didn't know your husband, but I knew his spirit. I lost two cousins in Viet Nam and a friend. I held a flag out on Karsch Friday and again on Sunday at the yield sign. My heart broke for you and your family, but Sgt. Deason was a true hero, not because he died (that was the way we knew him), but because of the way you knew him as a father, husband, son, and all the other ways you loved him. We love America and thank your family for protecting my family. Dan and Willa Berry

  205. Please forward my condolences to the family of Sgt.Deason. As a Texas PGR member, I have had the honor to ride on several missions to pay our respects to a fallen brother in arms. None are easy to attend and I always come away with a renewed respect for our young gneration of warriors. They are no less willing to die for their country than was the WWII,Korean,Vietnam veterans. For that reason, I salute their courage and sacrifices to keep this country truly the land of the brave and home of the brave. Allen Dodson, Colonel, USAF ret.

  206. May God Bless and Comfort You in Your time of need. I never met Michael, but being raised in SE MO myself I know the values we all share. He was certainly a great Man and Father and Soldier. My Heart and Prayers are with You All. Toby Long and Family

  207. Michael's extended Army family mourns the loss of this great soldier, husband and father. Be thou at peace, my friend. We will not forget you.

  208. I had the honor of serving as SSG Deason's Battalion Commander, 3-320th Field Artillery, Fort Campbell, 2002-2004. We served together during Operation Iraqi Freedom 1. He was the ultimate soldier who was always a part of the team. Please accept my condolences for your lost….it hurts me just as bad because we were "A Band of Brothers". Sincerely, COL Randall T. Barnes

  209. Always remember the love, friendship, and the good times we all shared. Mike will be forever a hero in all of our eyes for giving the ultimate sacrifice for his family and country! It was my honor serving with him as a screaming eagle and I WIll Always Remember!

  210. Micheal, gave all, so that those of us living in the present and those generations to come may live in freedom, just as he lived in his to short 28 years on this earth. Thank you Micheal and Micheal's family. God speed Micheal.

  211. My son, PFC Christopher Stokes served with Michael in the 3-320th FA , Bravo Battery during the recent deployment to Iraq. Christopher indicated that Michael was the 1st soldier he met in the Battery upon his arrival at Fort Campbell in May 2005. Christopher indicates that Michael was a great soldier, a great leader and a great man. That he was a true inspiration to not only work for, and follow but to also just hang out with. Christopher has told his mother and I that Michael also had a great sense of humor and always seemed to know when the troops he led needed a good laugh. Michael has made an indelible impression upon Christopher. Our thoughts and prayers go out to each and every member of Michael's family.

  212. Tiffany; From the moment I got the call about Michael's death, I have been heartbroken. I cant imagine your pain; not a day goes by that I dont cry for him. We never met, but I know what a great guy he was,(Rick remembers his laughter that morning b4 the mission), and we all know that he was a TRUE AMERICAN HERO. I know words mean little, but if you EVER need anything; please CALL ME, 24/7. Know that he loved you and the kids more than anything, and that he was doing what he loved, and even tho he died much too soon, HE DID MAKE A DIFFERENCE, and I will carry him in my heart always. I am glad that Rick was deployed with him; he respected him as a soldier and friend. And know that u have his children to remind you of his smile, laughter and strength. Kiss your babies and envision their father in them; they will bring you thru this. My son saluted his pic of the Iraq memorial; and at 8, that shows how much he understands the loss, dangers and PRIDE in being an AMERICAN SOLDIER. My # is 941-268-4054…I truly hurt in my heart for your irreplacable loss. I wont say he is in a better place, because his place was here with you and his family, but know that he loved u and was doing what he loved, and we will NEVER FORGET HIM… Beth Raver

  213. i fill so bad for the deason family first Julia and then Michael. Even though Michael was my cousin i didn't know him that well but Tiffany i will keep you and your kids in my prayers as well as Michael. I Love you all Jessica and (randie) deason

  214. My deepest sympathies go out to you and the entire family. Michael was a brother to me. I was his platoon sergeant for two years and we learned and grew together. I am glad I was able to help all of the family for the remembrance ceremony at FT. Campbell. SSG Deason is in my prayers every day. Tiffany, if you or any of your family need anything, or want to talk, please don't hesitate to call. 931-431-9061

  215. Michael was a very good friend of mine. I cannot express in words how much he will be missed. I wish only the best for his family. Although he is no longer with us, I will think of him often and miss him more than I can say. Mike was a great friend and an excellent soldier, his leadership and positive attitude will be sorely missed. It may not mean much to the rest of the world, but Mike was my friend! I think of him daily and wish things had turned out much differently. I will never forget the daily humor and sense of pride that Mike expressed while in Iraq. I was with him during both of his tours to Iraq. The first time around, in 2003, Mike was the new guy, he did all that was expected of him and more. He proved himself to be a valued member of the Charlie Battery NCO Corps. The second time around, both of us were moved to Bravo, as Charlie was disbanded, although we missed Charlie Battery, Mike did his best in Bravo Battery! I am glad to have known Mike! He was my friend, what more can I say. He will be missed from now until I die! Until we meet again, I will be missing you! I Love you Mike!

  216. To the Deason family. I just want to send my prayers to you all, mainly his children and wife SSG Michael Deason or just "Renegade Stalker" as we called him in Iraq was and is always the true example of not only a soldier but a leader.
