"Knot" Ragsdale, aged 102, of Park Hills, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family. Born on November 21, 1923, in Flat River, he was the son of the late Lawrence E. and Retta A. (Hahn) Ragsdale. “Knot's” remarkable journey through life was marked by his unwavering spirit and commitment to those he loved.
“Knot” entered the United States Army shortly after high school, proudly serving his country during WWII in Italy as a transporter for a Colonel during a pivotal time in history. This experience instilled in him a strong sense of duty and camaraderie that would carry throughout his life. Upon returning home, “Knot” found love with Wanda Cravens, and together they created a marriage that lasted an incredible 68 years.
“Knot” dedicated much of his career to Ragsdale’s Furniture and Appliance, where he served as a service technician until he retired. Retirement did not slow him down; instead, it sparked the entrepreneurial spirit within him, leading him to launch “Knot’s” Appliance Repair—an endeavor that brought him joy and allowed him to remain connected with his community.
Beyond his professional achievements, “Knot” was deeply devoted to his faith. He was a founding member of the Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church, where he directed the church choir for an impressive 25 years. His passion for music and community was evident in every note he conducted. “Knot” was also known for his clever hands and imaginative mind. He had a knack for tinkering and building, constantly exploring new projects that brought him joy and fulfillment. Yet, his greatest treasure remained the time spent with his family. Annual trips to Alley Springs with his children became cherished traditions, where laughter and memories flowed freely amidst nature's tranquility.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda Ragsdale; son, Jerry Ragsdale and wife GlenAnne; son in-law, Gary Stephens; three sisters and two brothers.
“Knot” is survived by his five children, Jean LaDonne Stephens, Gary Wayne Ragsdale and wife Faith, Bonnie Ochs and husband Bob, Cheri Hines and husband Ray, Tamra Uding and husband Paul; fourteen grandchildren, Jason Stephens (Jessica), Randy Stephens (Melissa), Jerrod Ragsdale, Jeffrey Ragsdale (Hannah), Katrina Monnig (Jason), Melody Clausen (Stu), Lindsey Brown (Billie), Ashley Aguiluz (Pietro), Alisha Wood, Jeremy Hines, Jamie Launius (Bryan), Justin Hines (Michaela), Dustin Uding (Ava) and Jensen Kyburz (Richie); twenty-two great grandchildren, Evan, Allie, Mercy, Hannah, Jonah, Addilyn, Brylee, Ben, Zach, Dylan, Adrielle, Martinna, Jeet, Brayden, Keagan, Kysen, Owen, Benton, Elliana, Kuper, Kaysn, and Keita; one sister, Ruth Goad; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The visitation will resume, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM. Pastor Curt Gwartney will be officiating. Internment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre with military honors.
