Anna Mae Townsend

Anna Mae Townsend, formerly of Arcadia, Missouri passed away November 18, 2025, in Moyock, North Carolina. She was born December 16, 1939, in Ironton, Missouri the daughter of the late Hosea Edgar and Violet Samantha (Upton) Vance.

On December 30, 1979, she was united in marriage with Welden Albert (Bert) Townsend who preceded her in death on December 5, 2008. This marriage joined their families. Anna was preceded in death by her three children: Beverly Christopher, Donna Marler, and Donald Marler, II and her stepson, James Albert Townsend. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Elizabeth “Lisa” Sage and husband Norman of Georgia, and daughter-in-law Tessie Marler of Moyock, North Carolina. Ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also are left to mourn her passing.

Anna was also preceded in death by her brothers: Howard Vance and wife Wilma, George Vance and wife Virginia, Hosea Vance and wife Louise, and Lawrence Vance, her infant brother; George William Vance and her infant sister; Wanda Violet Vance.

Anna worked as a CNA at the Baptist Home when she lived in the Arcadia Valley. She enjoyed art, writing poetry and making homemade cards. She was a prolific cell phone photographer. Anna loved to go shopping and out to eat with her niece Dorothy Savage. Anna was a former member of the Elks club.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Arcadia Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Marty Blakey officiating. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
