Barbara Ann Black

Barbara Ann (Tessereau) Black, 83, of Desloge, formerly of Farmington, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2023, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis. She was born the New Years Baby on January 1, 1940, to the late Harry Elmer and Neva Mildred (Pipkin) Tessereau, in Flat River. Barbara went to school in Esther, the class of 1957. She married the love of her life, Howard Daniel Black. When her husband was drafted, she stayed by his side and moved from base to base until the Vietnam War finally ended. They adopted their first child Jonathan Daniel Black in 1970. Approximately three years later, they adopted their second child, Joseph Michael Black.

Barbara’s husband of 42 years, Howard Daniel Black, preceded her in death at his age of 64. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carl Wayne Tessereau; and one sister, Joyce Reed.

Barbara is survived by two sons, Jonathan Black and wife Kacie, Joseph Black and wife Whitney; grandchildren, Skylar Grace Black and Jordan Black, Noah Magee and Aubrie Magee; great-granddaughter, Neva Black; sister, Alice Berg; brother, Michael Tessereau; and her favorite hobby, past-time, pride and joy, furry daughter, Molly Grace. This is her Havapoo dog, who owned more clothes than Barbara owned.

Barbara was a bank teller most of her adult life and lover of her animals. She was a devoted mother to both of her boys and tirelessly drove all over the state for swim meets, football games, and many other of their pursuits. Anyone who knew Barbara would remember her for her quirky personality and her strong opinions. She was loved by so many friends and grieving family members.

“Rest in peace mother, I love you very much and will see you again one day. I pray that God wrapped his loving arms around you and lead you home. In Jesus name, Amen.”
