Barbara Counts

          Barbara Counts age, 78, of Park Hills, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on Tuesday, April 27, 1943 in Elvins, to the late Dyer Edward and Amanda Catherine (Hasty) Cox, Sr. Barbara was a faithful member of Gumbo First Church of God and was a former cashier at Walmart.  She loved spending time with her husband, grandchildren and her church family.  

          She was preceded in death by her parents;  daughter, Janet Thomure; sisters, Velma Counts, Ruthie Watson, Dorothy Griffin and Pam Spradling; brother, Donald Cox.

          Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Pastor Cleo Counts; daughter, Brenda Hampton and husband Tony; son, Frank Counts; grandchildren, Cassi Sitton, Kenny Counts and wife Courtney, Lauren Hampton, Jaimie Rion, Chris Thomure (Melissa Wade), Kayla Thomure and Payton Counts; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Hailey and Alyssa Sitton, Colten and Maci Rion, Abigail Thomure; siblings, Lillie Fenwick, Dyer Cox, Jr., David Cox, Sr., Jimmy Cox, Judy Hooks, Mary Marshall; along with many nieces, nephews and her church family.

          Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge on Monday, January 31, 2022, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 9:00 AM until service time of 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kendall Hughes officiating. . Interment to follow at Herod Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
