Belinda (BJ) Joyce Walbert of Gumbo (Park Hills) passed away July 12, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. She was born June 7, 1966. Belinda started working for Franklin County in 1997 and had recently retired from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department after many dedicated years of service. She was incredibly protective of others and was the long-time honorary sheriff of Gumbo.
Belinda was incredibly strong and unwavering in her love for God, her family, and friends. Her love for Cardinals baseball and Coca-Cola was also well known. Those who knew her will have a trove of memories to look back upon and remember her by. Though she left us far too soon, it is best said by Dr. Suess, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bennie and Barbara Walbert.
She is survived by many who loved her and will miss her greatly. This includes her sisters Bonnie (Daniel) Wisdom and Barbie (Bill) Barron; as well as her brothers Bruce (Rita) Walbert, Sr. and Bennie (Brian) Walbert, Jr. Her nieces and nephews: Ashleigh, Tiffany, Bruce, Jr., Lacey, Rachel, Brett, Samatha, Kimberly, Greg, Becky, Lisa, Dave, Laurie, Emily, and Jonathan. Her great nieces and nephews: Logan, Nicolas, Vada, Brooke, Harper, Tucker, Lola, Lincoln, Brian, Grace, Taylor, Zachary, Skyler, Sawyer, Gillian, and Lukas. And special friends Jamie, Drew, and Willie.
