Ben Jones

Ben Jones, 87, of Belleville, IL, passed away November 11, 2023, at his residence. He was born August 21, 1936, in Okalona, Arkansas, to the late Clifford Lloyd and Jewel Mary (Hamilton) Jones.

Ben joined the Missouri National Guard in 1954, and served nine years, achieving the rank of Sgt. First Class. In November of 1956, he joined Union Electric Co. and worked there for 43 years, retiring on April 1, 2000. He was a member of Cahokia Family Worship Center where he actively served on many different committees. Ben was a Deacon and served on the Finance Committee, taught the Senior’s Men Sunday School class, sound engineer for the church, served in Helps Ministry and the bread ministry (donated bread from St. Louis Bread Co.) He led the Full Gospel Choir and accompanied them on his guitar. Ben also sang bass with the Merry Hearts Ministry Group where they would go and minister in nursing homes, prisons and churches. Ben was also a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Robert Jones, Jeanne Amsden, and Joan Hurst.

Ben is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Delores Ann (Cook) Jones; children, Greg (Imelda) Jones, Tim (Joyce) Jones, Rachael (Bob) Mueller, Michael (Tiffany) Jones, Stephanie Jones, Kevin (Kim) Jones; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; brother, Jake Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Pastor Ben Durbin will be officiating. Interment will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery.
