Elizabeth Lee “Bette” Wright
Elizabeth Lee “Bette” Wright, 96, of Bismarck, passed away on April 16, 2019 at Southbrook Skilled Nursing in Farmington. She was born on Saturday, January 14, 1923 in Morristown, Tennessee to the late Matthew and Lena O. (Spencer) Sullivan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lemuel “Lem” Wright; son, Jim Wright; four brothers and four sisters.
Bette is survived by her children, Steve Wright, Colleen Mitchell, Camille Nations and husband John; seven grandchildren, Carla Gibbs, Jeff, Nathan, Matthew Wright, Laura Hampton, Angel Smith and Stephanie Clark; fifteen great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Bette attended DeSoto schools, Mineral Area College and Southeast Missouri State University where she earned a Masters Degree in Elementary and Special Education. She taught in Bismarck R-5 schools twenty-five years until her retirement May 2000. She was baptized in the United Methodist Church, DeSoto, MO. in 1936. She was a faithful member of Bismarck United Methodist Church as well as a member of Theta Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Phi Delta Kappa International, St. Francois County Health Board, and Mineral Area Council of the Arts.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Bismarck United Methodist Church from 9:00 AM until the Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rick Lasley officiating. Memorials may be directed to Bismarck United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 286, Bismarck, MO 63624.
