Betty "Becky" Hodges

Becky Hodges, 76, of Cadet, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at Jefferson Mercy in Festus. Born on March 1, 1950, in Ironton, she was the cherished daughter of the late Edgar and Alta (Lawson) Buxton. 

Becky was best known for her warm spirit and dedication to her family. A devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Potosi, Becky found joy and purpose in her faith and the connections it fostered. 

She had a passion for sewing and painting, often finding solace in these creative pursuits. However, it was in the embrace of her family that she felt most at home, cherishing the countless hours spent nurturing her relationships with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, James E.L. Buxton, Richard Buxton, Wilma Peterson and Brenda Marshall; brothers in-law, Francis Buckholz, Walter Marshall, Bud Boren, David Bell and John Atterberry.

Becky is survived by her loving children, Melissa Lewis and husband Dean, Edward Mahurin and wife Beverly, Tonya Mahurin and wife Kelley; grandchildren, Sasha Lewis, Stephanie Mahurin (Patrick Snyder), Jack Mahurin, Benjamin Mahurin, Sean Mahurin (Megan); four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Brooklynne, Natalie and Gabriel; siblings, David Buxton, Carol Boren, Earleen Serini, Nita Atterberry (James), Delina Buckholz, Suzy Bell and Peggy Atterberry; sister in-law, Blossom Buxton; best friend, Joanne McInroe; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends still survive.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Friday, July 24, 2026, from 3:00 PM until the service time of 6:00 PM. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Workman Cemetery in Park Hills.
