Betty Ray Ford of Annapolis, Missouri passed away June 18, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 24, 1927 in Bunker, Missouri the daughter of the late William Henry and Virginia Lela (Warfel) Light. On September 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to John Wesley Ford, and they shared seventy-seven years together. To this union three children were born: Brenda Lewis and husband, William of Arnold, Missouri, Darold Ford of Columbia, Illinois, and Janet Faure and husband, Duke Huffman of St. Louis, Missouri. Four grandchildren are left to mourn: Christen Wiegers (Steve), Eric Wiemers, Ashley Wattanaparuda (Tony) and Traci Ford and six great grandchildren: Ella, Ben, Gabriel, Luke, Nora, and James as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by all her siblings: James Light, Glayne Light, Howard Light, Fae Burrows, Martha Thieman, and Ann Rouse. Betty worked for the Sunshine Bakery Company in St. Louis. She later worked sewing mattresses in a mattress factory when she joined John in Alaska while he was serving our country. Betty enjoyed working in her garden and tending to her yard. She canned and made homemade jellies. Her favorite hobby was quilting. She has made too many quilts to count. Most of all she loved being a wonderful wife and mother to her family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Howard Casteel officiating. Interment will be in Annapolis Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Bryson Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Annapolis Cemetery Association or the American Heart Association.
