Betty Joann Hayes, age 87 of Fredericktown, Missouri passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at the Claru DeVille Hursing Center in Fredericktown. She was born on July 21, 1932 in Pittsfield, Illnois, a daughter of Lowell Edison and Dorothy May (Coultas) Autery. On May 8, 1954 in Pocohantas, Arkansas she was united in marriage to Franklin Delano Hayes, he preceded her in death on December 24, 1997. Also preceding her: her parents, two daughters, Susan Mohan and Marsheila Hayes; one son, Robert Shepherd; one grandson, Amos Young and five brothers. She is survived by one son – Gary Hayes of Marble Hill, Missouri; two daughters – Sandra Bone and husband James of Fredericktown and Marlene Jolly also of Fredericktown; two brothers – David Autery of the state of Virginia and Ed Hileman and wife Joan of Jerseyville, Illinois; four sisters – Judy Miller of the state of Washington, Karen Johnson and husband Bob of Crete, Illinois, Sharon Rhodes and husband John of Jacksonville, Illinois and Anita Kennedy and husband Merle also of Jacksonville; sixteen grandchilden, thirty-seven great grandchildren and eighteen great-great-grandchildren. Betty had worked for Angelica Uniform Company in Marquand; she liked shooting snakes and spending time with all her grandchildren; she was a member of the Trace Creek Baptist Church in Glen Allen, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Miller officiating. Interment will be at the Marcus Cemetery in Fredericktown. Condolences may be posted on this website.
