Betty Horton

          Betty Horton, 98, of Park Hills, passed away July 26, 2021, at Parkland South in Farmington.  She was born August 28, 1922, in Des Moine, IA, to the late Walter and Verna (Eslinger) Baker.  Betty was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Desloge, and Mineral Area Memorial Auxiliary #5741.  Her enjoyments were reading, sewing, and selling buddy poppys, but she loved Bingo.  Betty was very giving of her quilts and she made the best cookies, but she adored sharing her time with friends, family and her grandchildren.

          She was preceded by her parents; husband, Ernest Horton; sons, Clifford and Terry Horton and three sons in-law, Raymond Hampton, Don Gottman and Bill Banks.

          Betty is survived by three daughters, Anita “Sissy” Hampton, Sue Gottman, and Kathy Banks; nine grandchildren, Clifton Glore, Bryan Horton, Jon Hampton, Joella (DeWayne) House, Justin (Crissy) Hampton, Fred (Karen) Gottman, William (Tammy) Banks, Jr., Chris Banks, and Aaron (Stacy) Banks; fifteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

                   Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Wednesday, July 28, 2021, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Mineral Area Memorial Auxiliary Service at 7:00 PM.  The visitation will resume, Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 9:00 AM until service at 11:00 AM in the C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel in Desloge.  Brother Tony Hampton will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Big River Cemetery in Irondale.  Memorials may be directed to the Mineral Area Memorial Auxiliary #5741.
