Betty Iahn

Betty Iahn, age 87, of Park Hills, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 28, 2024. She was born on Monday, April 20, 1936, in Elvins, Missouri, to the late Sebastian and Ida (Archambo) Sibole. Betty was known for her love for kids and animals, her sweet and always smiling demeanor and her constant energy.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Jackie Lee Iahn, Jr.; son-in-law, Randy Rust; siblings, Ruby Scarce, Ruth Hampton, Vernon Sibole, Helen Manion and Lucille Boyer.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Jackie Lee Iahn, Sr.; daughter’s, Becky (John) Spurgin and Diana Rust; son, Timothy Iahn; daughter-in-law, Diane Iahn; grandchildren, Julie (Todd) Crabdree, Joe Iahn, Sarah (Casey) Thurman, Lindsey Iahn, Laura Clark and Chris (Cheyenne) Spurgin; great-grandchildren, Chase and Lauren Crabdree, Andrew, Gabby and Maddy Iahn, Autumn O’Neill, Lori Moore, Mathew Roberts, Maddie and Miley Iahn, Sam and Jack Thurman, Baylor and Cloa Spurgin; great-great-granddaughter, Maleena Iahn.

Betty graduated from Elvins High School in 1954 and went on to have a fulfilling career at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center, where she dedicated 37 years of service. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In her leisure time, Betty enjoyed collecting antiques, attending auctions, reading the St. Louis Post Dispatch and caring for her (and the neighborhood) cats.
