            Billy “Bill” Gordon Lewis, age 80, of Terre Du Lac, passed away on April 19, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. He was born July 1, 1938 to the late Boyd and Gladys (Duke) Lewis. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Lewis.

            Bill is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Carol Ann (Sample) Lewis; son, Bill Jr. and wife Linda; daughters, Cynthia Williams and husband Ron, Judith Garrigas and husband Richard, Barbara Cromer and husband Steve, and Lucy Haessly and husband John; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Bill was a dearest step father of Brian Abbott, Jamie Smith and husband Joe., and Wendi Stephens and her husband Alvin; step Papa of three grandchildren; brother-in-law of Cheryl Sample and Rudy Sample. Bill will be missed by many.

            From a very young age, Bill knew he wanted a career in broadcasting. While attending Williams University and later Arkansas State, Bill was the on-air manager for both radio school stations. Later, Bill was the first rock n roll disc jockey for KOTN in the land of cotton at Pine Bluff, AR. After leaving broadcasting, Bill joined CONTEL becoming Oklahoma state manager and later administrator of Public Affairs for Missouri. Bill was a well-known civic leader in St. Charles County. He served on the board of Overseers for Lindenwood University, President of Missouri Industrial Developmental Council, Private Industry Council of St. Charles County, chairman of Tri-County United Way, Diplomat for Hawthorn Foundation, President of O’Fallon Jaycees and O’Fallon Rotary. Also, served on the Board of Directors for Edmond, OK and Russellville, AR Jaycees. Bill was named Outstanding Citizen of the year by St. Peters Chamber of Commerce.
