William Michael Woods, affectionately known as Bill, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Cedargate Healthcare in Poplar Bluff. Bill was born on Friday, January 8, 1943, in Van Buren to the late James Monroe and Margaret (Shearrer) Woods.
After high school, Bill received his bachelor's degree in History and Psychology from Southeast Missouri State University. Following graduation, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed at Korea. Bill had a successful career as a retail manager. Bill met the love of his life Christina while working at the AVSCOM Building in St. Louis. It was love at first sight as they stood beside the Xerox copier; their love story blossomed from that moment, growing into a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless unforgettable memories.
Bill attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Park Hills. He enjoyed playing golf and reading mystery novels. He will be remembered for his gentle kindness and beautiful smile.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kelly Woods; son, Brent Woods and five siblings Mary Scherr, Virginia Mueller, James Woods, Peggy Green and Janice Mullins.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Christina (Berger) Woods; grandchildren; Rebecca Gerbert, Margaret and Brent Ramayya; one great-granddaughter, Blake Gerbert; siblings, Dixie Stone, Robert “Bob” Lee Woods and wife Janet; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Visitation will be at C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Park Hills at 10:00 AM with Rev. Larry Huber officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis at 1:30 PM.
