Mrs. Birdie Neoma 'Matthews' Brown passed away Nov. 4, 2002, at her Baptist Home residence in Ironton, MO., at the age of 89 years, 1 month & 26 days. She was born Sept. 22, 1913, in Fredericktown, MO., to Frank Nelson Matthews & Emma Grace 'Clark' Matthews. Also preceding-in-death were: her husband, Elmer Walter Brown (03.07.93); 1 Brother, Floyd Nelson Matthews (09.19.76); & 2 Sisters: Flora Mae Herring (11.05.84) & Anna Ruth Baugh, (05.16.01); 3 Brothers-In-Law: Marvin K. Herring; Russell Baugh & Floyd Sutherland. Mrs. Brown is a longtime former & very active member of Farmington First Baptist Church & a present member of the Ironton First Baptist Church & served as Farmington Postmaster when her husband, Elmer Brown, served in the military in WWII. SURVIVORS INCLUDE: Sisters-In-Law: Nadine Matthews, Farmington & Marie Sutherland, Florida. 1 Nephew: Larry F. (& Suzanne) Matthews, Glenview, IL; 1 Niece: Joann 'Mrs. Bill' Yeargain, Florida; 2 Great-Nieces: Anne Matthews 'Mrs. Van' Fletcher, Philadelphia, PA; Tina 'Mrs. Allen' Yeargain-Burpee, FL; 2 Great-Nephews: Rev. Daniel (& Jill) Matthews, Stuarts Draft, VA; Michael Matthews, Lawrenceville, GA. Visitation Thursday, 5-8 p.m., Nov. 7th; resuming Friday morning, 7:00 am & funeral Friday, 11 am, Nov. 8, 2002, at TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, Farmington, with Rev. Sam Gentry officiating. Interment in Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Farmington. Memorials to: * Ironton Baptist Home; * Ironton Baptist Church; * Farmington 1st Baptist Church &/or * The American Heart Association.
