Bonnie Skaggs

Bonnie Skaggs, 74, of Desloge, passed away November 3, 2022, at Camelot Nursing Center in Farmington.  She was born June 21, 1948, in Bonne Terre, to the late William Wimford and Hilda Bernice (Mitchell) Ross.  Bonnie was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Park Hills. She was a local Tax Preparer for the past 42 years.  Anyone who sent their documents to Bonnie and her team knew she had a magic way of deciphering the most complex of tax situations. While her early days of employment included working for the IRS, she truly blossomed when she was able to own her own tax business.

Bonnie was known in the community for sharing her talents, treasures, and time with those in need. She stepped in as a surrogate family member to many people, both young and old. She ensured that those around her did not suffer if there was a viable solution, and often had very creative ways of providing for others. She was a very generous woman who opened her heart and home to many throughout the years. Bonnie’s Catholic faith was solid, strong, and sustaining.

In everything she did, she did it with passion. She found reasons to celebrate others, and often traveled far and wide to connect with them. She also had a gift of making the world pretty and pleasant. She mostly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Bonnie will be greatly missed here on earth as she goes to her Heavenly Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 43 years, Robert Bernard Skaggs; brothers, William, Wayne, James “Joe,” Lemme and Norris “Duckie” Ross; sisters, Lena Lucy, Patricia Kupke, Clara Moses and Linda Ross.

Bonnie is survived by her three children, Brianna Shelton and husband Eric, Brandolyn LaChance and husband Glen, and Braden Skaggs; eight grandchildren, Abbriel (Bryant) Peppler, Kaiden Shelton, Breckyn (Devan) Hughes, Adreanna LaChance, Alaniss (Wesley) Files, Aubrie LaChance, Avarie LaChance and Cadence Skaggs; four great-grandchildren, Ellie, Charlotte, Hendrix and Sutton; sister Marilyn Rawson; several nieces and nephews, also survive.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Monday, November 7, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  A funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Park Hills, Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 10:00 AM.  Deacon Mike Burch will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the Carlei Huff Foundation.
