It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Burlyn Francis Rippee, affectionally known as “Rip” who departed this life on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on Sunday, February 8, 1942, in Cantwell. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Rip was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served his country honorably before returning to a different calling: entrepreneurship. In the early 1970s, he established Rippee’s Used Tractor Parts, a business that reflected his hardworking spirit and passion for agriculture.
What began as a humble venture grew into a respected establishment in the community, a testament to Rip’s dedication and tenacity. For 62 cherished years, Rip shared a loving partnership with his spouse, Mary Rippee. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and countless fond memories. Rip’s ability to engage with others was unmatched; he never met a stranger and possessed a gift for storytelling that captivated friends and family alike. His fondness for conversation brought joy to many, and his capacity to remember and share experiences made everyone feel valued.
In addition to his contributions as a husband and a business owner, Rip was a devoted father to his son Rodney Rippee, faithfully working by his side. He was a cherished grandfather; he had a special bond with his two granddaughters, Savannah and Susan Rippee, whom he loved dearly. A lover of nature, Rip enjoyed quiet afternoons fishing and leisurely rides in his golf cart. He also loved children and cherished every moment spent with them, affectionately calling them his grandchildren.
Rip is preceded in death by his parents, Burl H. Rippee and Glenda (Marshall) Barton; He was raised by his grandmother from infancy, Kate Marshall; and two siblings, Marshall Barton and Gloria Barton.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary (McClintock) Rippee; one son, Rodney Rippee (Darcy Barnfield); 2 granddaughters, Savannah Rippee and Susan Rippee; six siblings, James “Red” Barton, Leeman “Bud” Barton, Paul Barton, Kathy Cramp, Rita Bledsoe and Myrna Kennedy; along with the mother of his grandchildren Crystal (Dunlap) Rippee; and numerous family members.
Rip’s memory will be honored with a public viewing at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM, until service time of 1:00 P.M. Pastor Dr. Bradford Laubinger will be officiating. Rip will be laid to rest at St. Francois Memorial Park Cemetery in Bonne Terre, with military honors.
As we bid farewell to Rip, we remain grateful for the indelible mark he left on our hearts and in our lives. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
