Byron "Barney" Franklin Phegley

Byron Franklin Phegley known to most as "Barney" passed away on July 21, 2022 in Pilot Knob, Missouri at the age of 85 years. He was born January 9, 1937 in Iron Mountain, Missouri the son of the late Byron Jerome and Lucenthia Elizabeth (Brown) Phegley. On May 31, 1956, he was united in marriage to Essie Mae Brooks who survives and resides in Ironton, Missouri. To this union three children were born: Richard Phegley and wife, Kim of Glover, Missouri, Gary Phegley and wife, Missy of Middlebrook, Missouri and Susie Roberts and husband, Ted of Kansas City, Missouri. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Dawson Roberts, Sara Ruhl, Heather Ruble, and Tyler Phegley and five great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Barney was a 1955 graduate of Ironton High School. He and his wife, Essie owned and operated Barney's Bait Shop for forty-five years. Through their business they met many people.
