It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carmen Pirtle, who left us on May 20, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on August 3, 1965, Carmen was a cherished sister, beloved friend, and a vibrant presence in the lives of many. She was born in Farmington, to the late Ronald and Marilyn (Cowley) Pirtle. Carmen was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Farmington. She was employed at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center in Farmington for over 18 years as an Administrative Support Assistant in Quality Management. She was a 1983 graduate of Farmington High School and attended Mineral Area College, where she earned an associate degree.
Carmen's spirit was truly one of a kind. She had a genuine heart and an unwavering willingness to help others, often giving whatever she could, even to those who might take advantage of her generosity. Her love for animals shone bright, and she had a soft spot for every stray dog that crossed her path. Above all, Carmen cherished her family and was deeply passionate about football, proudly supporting the Las Vegas Raiders through thick and thin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter in infancy, Gracie Layne Despard; grandparents, Walter and Minnie (Powell) Cowley, Olin and Lelia (Burch) Pirtle; and several fur babies.
Carmen is survived by one brother, Rodney Pirtle and wife Janna; nephew, Lexie Pirtle (Abby Holmes); special aunt, Bonnie Henson; friend and father of Gracie, Gregory Despard; one fur baby, Bobo; other family members and friends also survive.
