Carol McClain, 81 ½ years old, of Leadwood, passed away April 18, 2022, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. She was born October 19, 1940, in Mine La Motte, to the late Chester and Dora Virginia (Reaves) Weston. Carol was a loving wife, mom, and grandma, who enjoyed traveling, casinos, scratch offs and playing the lottery. She was of christian faith and was saved at the Wortham Church of God. Carol had many jobs throughout her life, starting at Brown Shoe in Potosi, at the age of 16, where she met her future husband. Bobby and Carol joined their hands in marriage and moved to St. Louis, where she started working for Busman Fuse, Knapp Monarch, Jake Evans (where they made thermostats and controls) and Standard Display, while giving birth to six children along the way. Once the couple moved back to the area, she continued working at Trim Foot, Walbash Transformer, two different nursing homes in Hillsboro, then finishing her career, at Biltwell for 28 ½ years before retiring. This was all done, while raising those six children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Dennis McClain and Veronica Goforth; infant granddaughter Ann Marie Huff; siblings, Pat Fones, Judy Kean, Bob Cox, Dixie (Bill) Morgan, Dianne White, Jim Dees, Carolyn Forbes, Angie Reese; and step-mom, Helen Marie Underwood-Weston.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 63 1/2 years, Bobby Ray McClain; children, Patricia (Jim) Spruell, Kimberly Rion (Bob Davis), Maxwell (Lyn) McClain, and Robert McClain; twelve grandchildren, Maranda Eye (John Pratt), Jennifer (Brian) Longo, Jason (Sijel) Rion, Steven Goforth, Justin Goforth, David McClain, Marissa (Crystle) McClain, Bobby (Jennifer) McClain II, Andrew McClain, Katleyn McClain, Tine McClain, and Jett McClain; nine great-grandchildren, Sammie Eye, Taden Eye, Tucker Eye, Ryder Eye, Joshua Longo, Levi McClain, Lyla McClain, Bobby McClain III, and Ameri McClain; six step-grandchildren, Heather Miller, Laurissa Spruell, Dustin Spruell, Steven Spruell, Shalisa (Michael) Queen, and Zach Parmley; eleven step-great-grandchildren; Everlynn Lietz, Jasmine Spruell, Braiden Hafner, Malcome Burr, Shalynn Queen, Myla Queen, Seth Queen, Skylar Parmley, Zach Parmley Jr., Bryce Parmley, and Faith Parmley; siblings, Margie (Harry) Brown, Mike (Faye) Weston, Marilyn (Steve) Politte, Wayne (Doyla) Weston, Jackie (John) Portell, Debbie Kline (Sid Arment) and Skip (Angie) Weston; brothers in-law, Dave Fones, Bud Forbes, and Randy Reese; several nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends, also survive.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The visitation will resume at 9:00 AM, Friday, April 22, 2022, until the service time at 11:00 AM. Pastor Michael Barton will be officiating. Interment will follow at Leadwood Cemetery in Leadwood.
