It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Wayne Cook, a beloved father, grandfather, and brother. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, November 3, 1945, Charles lived a rich and fulfilling life guided by his love for the outdoors and his unwavering commitment to family and community. He departed this world peacefully Friday, on April 24, 2026, at the age of 80, at Ozark Manor, in Fredericktown, Missouri.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Imogene Madeline (Hoehn) Cook.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, His sense of duty extended beyond his military service into his professional life, where he dedicated many years as an inspector for the Food and Drug Administration. Charles was a diligent worker who took great pride in his role, also engaging in medical research for Walter Reed and contributing to the Conservation Department. Charles was an avid outdoorsman, thriving in nature through activities such as hunting, fishing, and trapping. His passion for the natural world led him to become the district director of the Missouri Trapper Association, where he shared his knowledge and dedication to wildlife conservation with others. He was a simple man at heart who found joy in tending to his farm and embracing the tranquility it brought him.
Above all, Charles cherished his family. He is survived by his two sons, Mark and wife Kelly Cook and Carl and his wife Rachel Cook, A devoted Papa, to his six grandchildren; Marissa, Blake, Brady, and Daniel Cook, Kennedy and Hadleigh Nolan. One great granddaughter, Lily Randolph. Charles loved spending time with his grandchildren, building memories that will last a lifetime. He also leaves behind two brothers, Gary Cook and his wife Judy and Jeffrey Cook and his wife Lee, along with several nephews and a niece. Charles was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Farmington, where he found community and fellowship. His quiet strength and hard work left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 9:00 A.M. until service time of 10:00 A.M. Pastor David Schmitt will be officiating. Burial will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery in Doe Run. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honor of Charles to 4- H an organization that was dear to his heart.
As we reflect on Charles Wayne Cook’s legacy, we are reminded of his profound love for family, his dedication to service, and his appreciation of the natural beauty surrounding him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
