Charles E. Farr Sr.

Charles E. Farr, Sr.  age 88, of Bonne Terre, passed away May 28, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born on Friday, October 20, 1933 in St. Louis, to the late Charles Farr and Bercie (Kimberlin) Farr. In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol (Major) Farr; son, Robert M. Farr; two sisters, Gwendolyn M. Zajicek and Virginia A. Farr.

Charles was a Korean War veteran, proudly served his country with the United States Navy. He retired from Normandy School District in St. Louis after teaching history there 32 Years. After retirement he taught at Central School Dist. for 2 years and substituted at area schools for several years. He served 10 years on the North County School Board, a Rotarian and a member of the Knight of Columbus Council #1088. He was very active with local Scout Troops for over 25 years and was a Past Scout Master for Scout Troop #445 .  He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bonne Terre and was a past volunteer at the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry. Charles was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Education was his passion and making sure everyone had an equal opportunity to receive it.

  

He is survived by his four loving children, Charles “Chuck” (Lynn) Farr Jr., William “Bill” (Tracy) Farr Sr, David (Kimberly) Farr, and Mary (Paul) Adams; Thirteen grandchildren, Charles “Chuckie” (Danielle) Farr III, Alicia (Fiancé, Levi Calhoun) Schenavar, Adam (Melissa) Schenavar, Matthew (Rebecca) Farr, Kayla (Fiancé, Eric Dunn) Farr, Billy (Miranda) Farr Jr., Julianna (Fiancé, Braden Swift) Farr, Evan Farr, Colin Farr, Owen Farr, Anna Gantz, Erin Gantz, and Danny Gantz; six great-grandchildren, Katelyn Farr, Brooklyn Farr, Grant Farr, Avery Schenavar, Lincoln Farr, and Vincent Dunn; along with many family and friends.

 

Visitation will be Friday June 3, 2022, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Funeral mass will be 10 am Saturday, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bonne Terre with Rev. James A. Holbrook officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry.
