Charles E. Welch

Charles E. Welch, 78, of Bonne Terre, passed away October 26, 2023, at Select Specialty Care Hospital within Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 30, 1944, in Desloge, Missouri to the late Earl E. and Verna (Derickson) Welch. Charles was a retired military veteran and spent his career in the United States Air Force, serving the first part of his career mostly overseas, including the Vietnam War. He loved working on old cars, going to car shows, raising brace beagles, going to auctions, and leather crafting for family and others. Laughing and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren, known to them as Papa, is what meant most to him. Charles had many friends and family and will be missed by all, especially his dog, Granger.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Richard, and his son, David.

He is survived by his very loving and caring wife of 54 years, Eliza (Blea) Welch; three daughters, Tanya Welch Dickerman and husband Bob, Valerie Winkler and fiancé Patrick Daugherty, Pamela Herzog and husband David; five grandchildren, Austin Winkler, Amber Winkler, Wyatt Herzog, Logan Herzog, and Ethan Welch; sisters, Kathleen Patterson and husband Charles, Marleen Johnston and husband Richard along with many friends and family.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 30, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Visitation will resume Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Randy Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre.
