Charles L. Marler, 88, of Marshfield, Missouri, passed away on November 29, 2023 in Osage Beach, Missouri. He was born on February 7, 1935, in Ironton, Missouri the son of the late Charles Lewis and Eulia (Whited) Marler. Charles proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean War, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country. After a life-changing injury, he ended his military career and embarked on a successful career as a Business Manager for the Laborer's Union. He served Local 916 Labor Union in Farmington, Missouri for twenty years until his retirement. His dedication and leadership were instrumental in the union's growth and success. When he lived in the Arcadia Valley, Charlie was a lifelong member of the Arcadia Valley Elks Lodge, the Arcadia Valley Eagles, lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Caledonia. These organizations held a special place in his heart. Charles also loved fishing, especially in the bayou, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Charlie is survived by his sisters; Carol Elliott of Ironton, Missouri, Patricia Tinsley (Joe) of Ironton, Missouri, his brother; Ronald Marler (Marianne) of Ironton, Missouri, daughter; Heather Morris of Marshfield, Missouri, and his sons; Wayne Marler (Brandy) of Slater, Missouri, Preston Reed (Carla) of Marshfield, Missouri, and Mark Badinger of California. Charlie remained friends with his former wife, Donna Jones of Loxley, Alabama. He was also cherished by his grandchildren: Tawana Jose (Kevin), Richard and David Marler, Jamie Marler-Swain, Mike Marler-Swain and Walker Jr. Marler-Swain, Logan Audrain, Brody, Lilah, and Will Morris and eleven great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Marler and Eulia (Whited) Marler, his son; Charles Marler, grandson; Wayne Marler Jr., sisters; Margaret (Marler) Elser, Mildred (Marler) Askew, and Jeanette Marler. Charles was a devoted father, grandfather, and brother. In honor of Charles' life and his contributions to his community, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Bryson Funeral Home Chapel in Pilot Knob, Missouri. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to gather together to celebrate his memory and share stories of his remarkable life. Inurnment will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park following the memorial service. Charlie will receive full military honors at the graveside. Memorials may be made to the Arcadia Valley Elks Lodge.
