Charlotte Mae Edgar passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love for family, friends, community and service to those in need. Born on Tuesday, March 24, 1936, in Elvins, MO to the late Steve and Hazel (Weiler) Rosener. Charlotte is preceded in death by husband Carl Edgar Sr.; grandsons Alex Kennedy and Alex Goss; and sisters Dorothy Daughtery, Anna Edgar, Fern Sebastian, and Lois Martin.

Charlotte is survived by her sister Jane (Rosener) Vogel; five children Carl Edgar Jr. and wife Sue (Bangert) Edgar, Bontiea (Edgar) Goss and husband Tom, Mary (Edgar) Braning and husband Mike, Kimberly (Edgar) Sipperly and husband Brendan, Jeffery Edgar and wife Carol (Mykytyn) Edgar; ten grandchildren Camille Edgar, Casie (Edgar) Anderson, Elizabeth (Edgar) Cook, Alisha Hosutt, Sarah (Hosutt) Basham, Mariea (Tillery) Murray, Goeff Goss, Bryan Braning, Daniel Braning, David Braning, Mia Edgar; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Charlotte taught elementary school for 35+ years, educating and shaping young minds with her creative teaching style. Parents and students alike fondly remember churning butter for the Thanksgiving pilgrim’s feast, the Christmas Pageant and the Easter Passion Play. Most importantly, was her care and compassion for each and every student, personalizing instruction to meet specific needs.

Charlotte helped organize “Friends of the Library” to raise funds for the preservation and expansion of the Bonne Terre Library. She participated in various projects, such as the summer reading and after-school tutoring programs. Her achievements were recognized by the declaration of Citizen of the Year in 1997, in Bonne Terre, MO.

Charlotte continued a life of service after retirement, volunteering at homeless shelters; domestic violence shelter, St. Vincint DePaul Food Bank, Helping Hands, Meals on Wheels, as well as with The American Red Cross Disaster Action Team. Ms. Edgar believed strongly in education, being of service to others and family. “Have a little or have a lot, share with others.”

Charlotte’s family is planning a private Celebration of Life gathering this fall. Memorial donations can be made in Charlotte’s memory directly to Bonne Terre Library 5 SW Main Street Bonne Terre, MO 63628.
