Clarence Eugene Owens

Clarence Eugene (Gene) Owens, 98, of Arcadia, passed away at Parkland Health Center in Farmington, Missouri on September 7, 2023. He was born May 22, 1925, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Clarence and Nina Garner Owens. Gene was a 1943 graduate of Fredericktown High School. He served our country in World War II, enlisting in the United States Navy upon completion of high school. On December 24, 1950, Gene was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Robertson. Gene and Dot owned and operated Owens Nursery and Florist in Arcadia, Missouri. They opened the business in 1959 and served our community for 45 years, Gene retiring at the age of 80. Gene was an avid golfer and was fortunate to card two hole-in-ones at Arcadia Valley Country Club where he was a longtime member. His second hole-in-one made playing with his two sons on Father's Day at the age of 87!
