Danny King

Daniel “Danny” King, 74, of Desloge, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Missouri Baptist Hospital. He was born on Tuesday, April 26, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Eligia Earl and Iola Margaret (Adams) King. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Hope Hinkle; father-in-law, Lawrence Murray; and brothers-in-law, Steve Connors and Kenny Basler.

Danny was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Park Hills. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda (Murray) King; two children, Douglas Craig (Angela) King of Minden, LA, Julie Ann (Aaron) Meier of Murfreesboro, TN; five grandchildren, Mary-Evelyn King, Hannah Meier, Allie King, Joshua Meier, Jacob Meier; his sister, Carole Connors of Las Vegas; mother-in-law Arlene Murray of Desloge along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and many other loving family members and friends.

Danny worked as the safety inspector at Pea Ridge Iron Ore and Doe Run Mining Company and was lovingly referred to as Dan, Dan the Safety Man. He and Linda traveled the globe together creating wonderful memories. He was an adrenaline-seeker who was always the life of the party. Danny enjoyed playing cards, sand volleyball, and was always up for any adventure. He loved boating, water skiing, and snow-skiing. More than anything, he loved his family and enjoyed attending all his grandchildren’s activities. One of his favorite things was vacationing with his wife, kids, and grandchildren on yearly vacations.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM with Father Jim French and Deacon Mike Burch officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
