Dean Henson

Dean Henson, 79, of Bonne Terre, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Born on Monday, August 11, 1947, Dean was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, whose warmth and humor touched the lives of many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell and Sophia (House) Henson; his wife, Ellen (Hall) Henson, six brothers, Virgil “Bo” Henson, Forrest Henson infancy, Gene Henson, Shirdell Henson, Jim Henson and Robert “Linn” Henson; two sisters, Reva Koester and Wanda Lee Henson; brother and sister in-law, Edward Hall and Dawn Dennis.

 Dean was a man deeply connected to the land he cherished. A dedicated farmer and cattleman, he found joy in the simplicity of life outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, often sharing stories of his adventures in the great Missouri wilderness. His cows were not just livestock to him; they were a part of the family, reflecting his nurturing spirit and commitment to the life he built. Known for his quick wit and unmistakable stubbornness, Dean had a talent for teasing those around him, filling his home with laughter and love. Above all, he cherished his family, standing as a pillar of strength and affection.

Dean is survived by his beloved children, Ewell Henson and Angela Mackley; three loving grandchildren, Sam Henson, Karlie Mackley and Madison Sexton and husband Tyler.; two cherished great grandchildren, Charolette Mackley who was the apple of his eye, and he treasured every moment spent with her; and Maverick Sexton; two sisters, Elsie Stroud and Janice Boyd; sister in-law, Sharon Henson. Along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

 Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 9:00 AM until service of 11:00 AM. with Pastor Randy Murphy officiating. Dean will be laid to rest by his wife Ellen in Bonne Terre Cemetery in Bonne Terre, Missouri, following the service that honors his legacy and the land he adored.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made in honor of Dean to the Alzheimer's Association . 

As we remember Dean, let us carry forward his spirit of kindness, humor, and love for family, embodying the values he instilled in all of us. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
