It is with a joyful heart that we celebrate the life of Debra Joy, who danced her way into eternal rest on August 16, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on April 19, 1954, in Olean, New York, Debra brought light and love to all who knew her. She was the cherished daughter of the late James Kenneth and Virginia Etta (Richardson) Reynolds.
Debra proudly served in the United States Army, embodying a spirit of dedication that she carried throughout her life. As a devoted medical secretary, she made a lasting impact in the healthcare field, where her warm-hearted nature touched the lives of many.
A beloved member of the Open Door Baptist Church in Desloge, Debra radiated kindness and generosity, sharing her love unconditionally with family and friends. An adventurous spirit, she found joy in winery visits, lively days at casinos, and joyful nights of dancing. Known as a social butterfly, she embraced weekend getaways, creating cherished memories that will forever warm the hearts of her loved ones. Above all, Debra was a remarkable and spunky mother whose love for her daughter Laura Gallagher was boundless.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Richard James Gallagher; second husband, James Joy; and a grand-cat, Snowflake.
Debra is survived by one daughter, Laura Ann Gallagher; stepdaughter, Jamie Runnels; fiancé, George Donaldson; several bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, James (Karen) Reynolds, Lynnette Batty, Maureen Reynolds, Carl Reynolds, Tammy (Al) St. John, Patricia Reynolds, Eric Reynolds, Richard Reynolds and Kurt Reynolds; special nephew, David Paul Reynolds; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends; special family friend whom she loved as a daughter, Christel Lethbridge and husband Will; and Debra’s special grand-fur babies, cats: Chicklet and Chocolate.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM. Pastor Duane Hampton will be officiating. An inurnment will be held at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington, Friday, August 21, 2026, at 12:00 PM.
As we bid farewell to our dear Debra, we find comfort in knowing that her love and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her journey be filled with the same joy and laughter she gave to others.
