Delmon Short, 70, of Park Hills, formally of Irondale, passed away June 26, 2022, in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born December 12, 1951 in Ironton, to the late Delmon A. and Alberta M. (Parks) Short. Wayne was a member of the Iron Mountain First Baptist Church. He was a former bus driver for 23 years at West County and spent 11 years at the Pilot Knob Mines. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf with the boys. Wayne loved crowds and was a social butterfly and a jolly guy. In his spare time, he loved spending time with family and friends, feeding the birds and watching his St. Louis Cardinal red birds.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents; brother in-law, Carl Jones and several aunts and uncles.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Melanie (Groves) Short, whom he gave his big teddy bear heart to, over 49 years ago; three daughters, Heather (Delandric) Short, Chasity Short, and Amanda Short; four sisters, Rhonda (Norman) Gaston, Donna (Richard) Lammert, Shawn (Joe) Short, and Deidra (Tommy) Johns, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Iron Mountain First Baptist Church, Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 2:00 PM with Pastor John Canterberry officiating.
