Denis R. W. Gosling

Denis R.W. Gosling, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the age of 91. Born on Thursday, April 28, 1932, in Louth, Lincolnshire, England to the late Benjamin and Ella (Steadman) Gosling.

He dedicated his life to serving his country in the United States Air Force as a fireman, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and retired with 20 years of service. After retirement from the military Denis went on and worked another 16 years for St. Joe Lead Company as a foreman.

Denis enjoyed traveling with his wife Frances all over the world. He was an avid golfer spending countless hours on the golf course where he mastered a hole-in-one. In his earlier years, he had a unique hobby of raising pigeons, which brought him great joy and contentment. Denis was also known for his love of soccer, continuing to play the sport into his late 30s. Denis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bonne Terre and Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his parents, Denis was preceded in death by his loving wife Frances Loretta (Pettus) Gosling, sons-in-law, Larry Boyer and Charlie Buie; siblings, June Turner and Barbara White.
Denis is survived by his beloved children, Pamela Boyer, Patricia (Kevin) Pierce, Ron (Ginger) Gosling, Chrissy Buie, and Anthony Wayne Gosling (Kathleen McRae); 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Michael Gosling; sister-in-law, Shirley Christopher along with many nieces and nephews who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 9:00 AM until service time of 12:00 Noon at C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre with Father John Schneider officiating. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Bonne Terre. Memorials if desired can be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
