Dewey Smallen

Dewey Smallen, 73, of Farmington, passed away March 13, 2023, at Parkland Hospital in Farmington.  He was born December 28, 1949, in Bonne Terre, to the late Charles Dewey and Pauline Alberta (Walker) Smallen.  Dewey served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Farmington.  He was a musician, who played drums professionally with the Wilkinson Brothers, in Branson for a couple of years.  He retired from Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center. In the past, he coached little league baseball and taught drum lessons.  Dewey enjoyed watching St. Louis Blues Hockey and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Matthew Johnson; son in-law, Ryan Pratt; and one niece, Sarah Smallen.

Dewey is survived by his wife of 33 years, Tracy (Lopez) Smallen; children, Teresa Griggs and husband Dwane, Tracy Pratt, Justin Smallen, Brook Fowler and husband Doug, Dawn Smallen and Derek Smallen; grandchildren, Skylar, Alysa, Alexis, Elizabeth, Tyler, Brady and Paxton; great-grandchildren, Riley, Madison, Preston, Ava, Ellie, Isabella, Maverick and Holden; brothers, Paul “Gene” Smallen and wife Fern, Larry “Smoke” Smallen and wife Katie; several other family members and friends also survive.

A memorial visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  The visitation will resume Monday, March 20, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM.  Inurnment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre. Memorials may be directed to Huckstep Heart and Lung Center at Parkland Hospital in Farmington.
