Listen to Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Sue (Pope) Thurman, 79, of Farmington. After a life filled with love and devotion, Donna left us on July 9, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends. Born on July 30, 1946, in De Soto, she was the beloved daughter of the late Richard and Wilma (Schmick) Pope.

Donna dedicated her career to customer service in the banking industry, where her warm smile and genuine kindness created lasting connections with those she served. Donna was also a devoted farmer's wife and worked alongside her husband to run Thurman Truck & Implement for many years. Her commitment extended beyond her profession; she was a compassionate 4H Leader, nurturing and guiding the youth of her community with dedication and care. As a member of the Eastern Star of Ste. Genevieve, she fostered meaningful relationships and became a beloved figure among her peers.

Cooking was one of Donna's greatest passions, and her kitchen was a haven where family and friends gathered to share not only delicious meals but also laughter and love. However, her most cherished role was that of a grandmother, a title she held with immense pride. The joy she found in her grandchildren brightened her life, and she treasured each moment spent creating memories with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard “Bud” Pope and wife Alberta; Raymond Pope and wife Maria; parents in-law, Teddy and Marie Thurman; brother in-law, Denny Thurman and wife Becky.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert “Bob” Thurman; daughter, Jody Hahn and husband Doug . In addition, Donna was a second mother & grandmother to Theresa (Eaton) Henson and husband Van, Brian Bessire and wife Alesia, Kevin Thurman and wife Karri, Jeff Richardson and wife Jacque, Kelli Freitas and all of their children. Devoted Grandmother to Gracie, Caden and Carter Hahn, Brian Bessire, Jr. and Jaxon Bessire; Also survived by a devoted sister, Jean Wolfe, Special Friends, Paul and Terri Richardson, and many treasured nieces, nephews and friends. Donna's heart and home were always open to anyone in need of love or a good meal. Donna may have only birthed one child, but she created a large, beautiful family by loving everyone who entered her home.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
